Welcome to Songs by Grant

I’ve always loved music, but I never really expected to be the one writing it.

For years, melodies would come to me sitting at our family piano and somehow stay in my head. The words are the easy part. I love writing lyrics. Taking a memory, a feeling, a person, an imaginary story or character, or even a small moment and trying to turn it into something that means something.

My heart is usually pretty full, and my mind doesn’t seem to settle very often, so there always seems to be another story waiting to become a song.

With today’s technology, I’ve been able to bring those words and melodies together and turn them into finished music. I’ve had a lot of fun experimenting with different genres because, as a listener, I love so many kinds of music myself.

Some of these songs are fun. Some are nostalgic. A few came from places very close to my heart.

I’m not trying to be anything other than what I am.  A guy who discovered how much he loves writing songs.
